Want to achieve curls while you sleep? Here’s my recommendation for achieving a beautiful curly head of locks while sleeping:
– Create a pin curl by dampening the hair, rolling it up and pinning it down with bobby pins. Try curl cream for thicker hair that needs added hold. Sleep on it.
– For a beach wave, braid the hair loosely while damp or towel dry. Add some sea salt spray for extra curl. Wake up looking amazing.
– For larger curls, place a few buns on your head, secure with bobby pins. Go for more smaller buns for tighter curls
– Try Velcro rollers with towel dry or damp hair. Use a wide tooth comb in the morning to finish the look.
– Flexi rods are a great for natural hair. These can be utilized much like rollers and also optimized with a good curl cream.
– Always prep the hair by using a good wetline on a regular basis to ensure hair health. (Pure BioGen Complex is my favorite!)
– Never pin down and pull the hair too tight, as it can create stress and breakage.

Gina Rivera’s Tip of the Week: Selecting the Right Brunette Shade
This year, regardless of the warmer season, we’re seeing all types of brunette shades heavily trending. No longer is this a shade for cool weather. If you’re considering brunette, here’s my tip for selecting the right shades:
- Always make sure to work with your salon professional who can assist with identifying the right shade for your skin tone.
- Taken into consideration both skin tone and eye color which will help to determine if you should go with warm or cool tones.
- For a more natural look, go no more than two shades away from your natural color.
- Consider how much dimension you would like (Hint: More dimension may require the use of multiple shades applied using different techniques).
- Discuss with your Salon Professional how much maintenance various shades will require and determine what works for your lifestyle.
- Have a wonderful time looking amazing!
Gina Rivera’s Tip of the Week: How to Achieve a Gorgeous Balayage
Wondering how those gorgeous balayages are achieved? Here’s my Tip of the Week:
– Begin with a clarifying treatment on your hair to ensure all the build up is removed before applying colour. I suggest doing this within 24 hours prior to your colour application. This will help the colour to take more easily.
– Always start with a professional colour line that has specialized dye pigments, gentle alkalizers and protective oxidizers that work together ensuring the colour is vibrant and the hair is healthy. HINT: My favorite line is COLOURS by Gina.
– Make sure to have a professional stylist provide this service. Colour application requires knowledge of the science and processing times as well as utilization of the proper technique to achieve a desired look.
– Depending on how dark your hair is, it may need to be pre-lightened. Discuss with your stylist if the process will require more than one appointment.
– Make sure to consult with your hairstylist regarding the right shade for your skin tone.
– To maintain our new look, always use a good professional wetline that is sulfate free and packed with biotin, collagen, and B Vitamins. I recommend Pure BioGen Complex.
Gina’s Tip of the Week – how to handle post-workout hair if you don’t have time to wash with your regular professional wetline.
-Dry shampoo can be a good temporary solution as long as there is routine for using a professional wet line. (I recommend Pure BioGen Complex by Gina)
-Pull back the hair up or pin back for a quick chic’ look.
– Add some quick curls to create volume or a new temporary look. (Hair Hack: Make sure to use tools with infrared technology in order to lock in the moisture!)
– Hats can add flair to any look. Tryout a cute one to match your style.
– Go for the wet look and slick back and mold the hair with some firm holding gel.

- Avoid dead ends by getting regular trims every 6-8 weeks.
- Avoid using styling tools on high heat.
- Opt for washing your hair every other day rather than daily.
- Use deep conditioning treatments weekly.
- Try sleeping on a silk pillowcase rather than the coarser cotton case that can pull the hair.
